In 2014, the CHUM, the only hospital in Quebec where lung transplants are performed, acquired two cutting-edge Ex Vivo lung perfusion devices. One of the devices is used for research at the CRCHUM and the other is used for clinical purposes at the CHUM.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">This pioneering acquisition makes it possible to study and verify lung function and better preserve the lungs prior to transplantation. These devices allow the organs to be kept in body-like conditions and ensure that the lungs are supplied with blood and oxygen.
